Even though understanding copywriting is not difficult, it is learning how to do it well so people buy from your copy that always proves to be a bear. Many people do not bother with it because most are too lazy, and there are some who just hate writing. If you dislike self-promotion or lack self-confidence, then that will prove to be a problem for you. It takes effort and you need to put in the time required to learn the basics first, but ignoring the foundation building part will obviously make it all difficult to master the skill.
This article is a very short treatment about some foundational issues in copywriting, so take notes.
Your copy must be read, and that is the job of the headline you will spend hours writing. In fact, one of the most crucial components to any sales letter is the headline that advertises it. Each sales letter is different, and that calls for a headline approach that is unique to each letter. For all that is ever written about headlines and copywriting, all you have to do is get the person to the first paragraph and read it. You could easily devote months to learning headlines and practicing them - great idea!
There is this method called split testing, and it is one of the most powerful practices you can ever use. If you are motivated, then start right at the top with the headline and work your way down the page. If you are running PPC ads, then your copywriting skills will allow you to kill it, and yes of course test them. This is how you find the winners, and it is the only way to find out. Any course on copywriting that is any good will go into much more detail about split testing.
Lastly, don't forget to weave in your USP or your unique selling point right into your copy. You will see the USP in signatures, and also it should be positioned in your copy.
Domino's Pizza had one of the best USPs and here it is: We'll deliver it in 30 minutes or less or it's free. Do not rush through with figuring out what your USP is because it can be easy to get wrong. One more thing about this is that you also must come across in a short phrase that has maximum impact.
Getting a higher number of sales for your product or service requires your copy to be persuasive. You have to see to it that your words make a strong impact by being convincing in every possible way, and see to it that your copy isn't falling weak anywhere. It will make a huge difference on your quality of information and knowledge when you become serious and learn from a course. It is entirely up to you how far you take this, so just get started as soon as possible.
