Even before Google officially changed their algorithm with the Panda and Penguin updates, there were signs that something big was going to happen. If you weren't paying attention we certainly can't blame you, what with how Google has behaved in the past. But that is all in the past, and many things a lot of businesses ignored in the past have to be addressed.
The lines aren't sharp though so all that anybody can really do is to hope for the best and make an educated guess about what to do. On-page SEO is one of the murkiest areas of all, especially when you're trying to figure out how to keep Google happy. There are all sorts of opinions about this online. So make sure that you are sure of whatever advice it is that you are thinking of taking.
Do you even remember the last time you gave your site index a good hard going over? We're willing to bet that next to no website owners have ever actually done this and it matters now more than ever. It matters because of the Google updates but there isn't really anything to it. What's most important, of course, is that you look for URLs that aren't strictly needed, that might be redundant or that are actual duplicates. It's easier to commit the SEO sin of including duplicate content on your web site than you imagine. This is particularly true if your site is an older one and has a lot of pages. But it's still important to understand more about this subject so do more research.
If your site is older, you'll need to take care of orphaned pages. Going one step further with that thought, internally-linked pages with content that is not up to standards have to be dealt with. You have some options with this one including deleting them completely. You could also choose just to update the page so that it now contains high quality content. When you do this, you need to make sure that the date on the page gets updated. You are the final decision maker when it comes to your lower quality content pages, but most important of all is that you make a decision at all. Don't ignore these pages--Google is a lot stricter in what it considers quality content now. You know there are many methods available to use with online marketing, and advertising is merely one of them but it should be seriously considered. Our attitudes always have a tremendous impact on what we achieve, and that is no less true when you are in business. There are all kinds of expressions thrown around such as a success mindset, for instance, and there is a great deal of credence in that concept. You will find many people whose performance reflects their attitudes such as high performance businesses who achieve a great deal to those who do enough to get by. You do have the power to change how you think, and we will tell you that negative-based thinking will always keep you down. To get the most potential from infographics, you need to build them for links that work with your internal link structure, though it is possible to use them as external links as well. It's clear that you should be able to do more with images than you ever have before and not using them to the best of your ability is the same as wasting your marketing energy. It also should go without saying that high quality graphics will have greater effectiveness, too.
It isn't exactly easy to get your business and marketing from where it is now to the standards now dictated by the Penguin and Panda updates. The actions you've taken before this moment are what feature most here. Pay close attention to your anchor text since a lot of this is about spammy, or perceived to be spammy, off-page SEO regarding backlinks.
