How to Get More Promotions on Twitter

Many online marketers have a hard time at Twitter, but we suspect they are using the wrong approaches. It is really not at all difficult to figure out what you need to if you accept that this is about relationship marketing. Imagine how you would feel if you met someone at a party, and the first thing they did was try to sell you something - same thing. Lots of people say you can simply get retweets, but that is easier said than done in most cases. Unless the news is really hot, like national, or funny in some way - only those who feel something for you will retweet your stuff. If you want to harness the power of retweets, then continue on because that is what we are going to cover.

Be Grateful For Retweets: Whenever you notice that someone has retweeted one of your tweets, take the time to thank them for it. Make a habit out of thanking anyone whenever they retweet one of your posts; all you have to do it hit the reply button and say a few words. When you acknowledge retweets this way, you're building relationships with your followers that can be mutually beneficial. This doesn't take much effort on your part, but it will create a feeling of goodwill that will make people want to retweet your material again. Receiving retweets is largely a matter of getting to know your followers so that they notice and look forward to your tweets and pass along the ones that they enjoy.

You will often want to put a link in your posts, or tweets, and there are different ones you can use. There are more of these services available now than there were several years ago, so you may want to shop around. Doing this will make your tweets easier to retweet, as well, so that will not cause a problem if somebody wants to do that. We have noticed that once in a while a shortened URL will drop a few characters and will not work, so be sure you test things out before tweeting.

Avoid Continuous Tweeting: There should be a certain amount of time between your tweets or they won't do you much good. You should stay away from tweeting "binges," where people post lots of tweets one after the other. Twitter organizes tweets in blocks when they're posted at close to the same time, and that's how people will see them. First of all, people who aren't online at that time will miss all of these tweets; secondly, people who do see them may get overwhelmed or annoyed. The best way to get retweets is to expose your tweets to the maximum number of followers, which means posting them at various times rather than all at once. Posting your tweets at optimal times, which really means spaced out so people on all different schedules can see them, will get you the most retweets.

We bet you never knew any of these little tricks of the Twitter trade that will help you get retweets.

If you haven't done so yet, sign up for twitter right now and get to promoting!
